Among the prettiest sites in the South to wade-fish for trout, the Chattooga River on the Georgia-South Carolina border is hard to beat for trout fishing – both stocked and wild -- during the “delayed harvest” season.
More than 3 miles of the Chattooga is designated as “delayed harvest” fishing only (single-hook artificials only (lures/flies) and catch-and-release) from November 1 through May 15.
Trip Description
Reel Angling Adventures guides wading anglers on the Chattooga from the crossing of Russell Bridge on GA Hwy 28 upstream to Reed Creek. The river’s course – followed on-foot only through this forestland -- features gin-clear water flowing across gravel bars and knee-deep runs, deep holes, long pools and feisty tailouts. Excitement peaks when dry-fly fishing during the mayfly and caddisfly hatches that take place all spring.
Reel Angling Adventures offers guided wade-fishing on the Chattooga River during the “delayed harvest” season. For 3 miles, the Chattooga is designated as “delayed harvest” fishing only (single-hook artificials only (lures/flies) and catch-and-release) from November 1 through May 15. Georgia and South Carolina fishing licenses and trout permits apply to both sides of the river.
Guided fishing includes guide/boat, rods/reels, lures/flies, tackle accessories and bottled water. Full-day trips include deli-styled lunch. Anglers are personally responsible for proper fishing licenses, proper waders/boots (as required).
