Guided Float Trips Toccoa River | Blue Ridge, GA

Top-Rated Fly & Spin Fishing Charters in North Georgia

Year-Round Tailwater Trout Fishing on the Toccoa

North Georgia's longest cold-water river, collects springs, seeps, branches and creeks in the high forestlands of Fannin and Union counties.

All that clear and cold water eventually grows large enough to provide winter, spring, summer and fall opportunities to float-fish for rainbow, brown and brook trout in both the upper and lower river, which is the spine of trout fishing in Fannin County -- the official Trout Capital of Georgia. Whether you're fly-fishing or tossing lures with spinning gear, the Toccoa River offers trout-fishing for all skill levels -- from novice to pro!

What to Catch: Toccoa River Trout & Fishing Techniques

Our fishing guides show you how to float dry flies, strip streamers, tumble nymphs ... or cast spoons, spinners and jigs! Boulder runs, deep pools, long feeding lanes, shady lay-downs and rippling shoals hold the brookies, browns and 'bows that make up the catch when trout fishing on our float trips on the Toccoa River.

Fish average 12 to 15 inches long,  but trophy brown and rainbow trout -- 18 inches and larger! -- frequently surprise anglers with smashing strikes, spectacular jumps and driving runs. Even larger trout are sometimes seen ... and hooked!

Lower Toccoa float-fishing

After collecting in Lake Blue Ridge, the lower Toccoa River pours from Blue Ridge Dam into a 14-mile-long tailwater for trout fishing that begins just beyond the city limits of Blue Ridge and ends at the  border town of McCayesville on the Georgia-Tennessee state line.  Our fishing guides run float trips during low-water periods on three segments, from 2 to 6 miles long between Tammen Park (Blue Ridge) and Horseshoe Bend Park (McCaysville).
